My Favorite Landscape Photos of 2022!
A few days ago, I shared a gallery of my favorite Wildlife Photos of the year. This post is dedicated to my favorite landscapes.
I find landscape photography a far more challenging discipline than wildlife. Challenging, in a very positive way. Both require significant time and effort, both rely on patience, and for both success relies on a combination of light, action, and composition. But with landscape, all of that comes together in a slow, methodical way.
There is something about the search for landscape photos that appeals to me. I can spend many hours walking through a meadow or forest simply looking. Discovering how this flower reacts to that downed tree trunk or the two combine with the distant mountains. How this patch of yellow wildflowers might interact with the alpenglow, and the blue evening sky. Or even, what does this dried sagebrush tell us about this place and this time?
When photographing the landscape I feel much more grounded in my craft than I do when pursuing any other type of photography. Perhaps that’s why I like it so much.
Here are my favorites of 2022. I hope you enjoy them.
