The world’s largest congregation of shorebirds occurs each spring on the delta of Alaska’s Copper River, near the community of Cordova. Each year in early May, millions of shorebirds come together in mind-blowing flocks, that swirl over the mud-flats and coastal wetlands near Cordova, Alaska. From a photographic perspective, it is unique, and spectacular. 5-days/4 nights, starting and ending in Cordova, Alaska.

Trip Overview
With daily flights to and from Anchorage, the small fishing town of Cordova, on the edge of the Copper River Delta will be our base for this bird photography tour. We will meet in Cordova on May 1, 2020. Wasting no time, we will head out as soon as possible to photograph birds at Hartney Bay.
We have three full days to photograph the shorebirds, landscape, and wildlife around Cordova. Between excursions, we will have workshops on photo composition and technique, creative exercises, group critiques, and post-processing. Not just an opportunity to make images, I strive to make this photo workshop an opportunity to make BETTER images.
Shorebird photography is best around high-tide when the birds are pushed together by the rising water, and we’ll time our outings accordingly. In between, we can explore the town, photograph the dramatic mountainous landscapes, while looking for other wildlife, or take a small boat trip to photograph the marine environment of Prince William Sound.
On the final morning, depending on participant flights, we may make one more trip to Hartney Bay to see the birds, or head to the airport for early departures.
